Imagine yourself entering an art gallery… – Francesca Machioro

People walk in silence surrounded by beauty. Now, imagine to stop and take a long and deep breath and to shout out, with all your force. It’s absolutely forbidden, of course it is. But if you would be able to do it, if you wouldn’t fear to break the rules, if you couldn’t avoid it anymore, you would hear it rising in the silence as the most beautiful, unexpected and revolutionary sound of liberation.

Mine is the story of that shout. A shout feared, silenced and ignored for too long.

My previous lifestyle was this way, and it ended. I was woman who fought to conquer her own place and position in a misogynistic world. I was surrounded by friends and family, luxury and beauty. I travelled the world for work and pleasure, I had a cozy and stylish home. I had love affairs, some of them very important. I was happy… Apparently.

I met yoga in a pivotal moment of my life. That was a time of inner chaos and suffering. Yoga was the reason for a change and, suddenly, all started to be in alignment with the Universe itself.

If yoga was the reason, Ibiza was the shelter. I have been loving and visiting this magic island, here I found my own balance and the good energy that I was looking for, changing lifestyle and reaching awakening, consciousness and the awareness of myself.

Once in Ibiza I was looking for my Dharma, my mission in life. But what is my Dharma? This was the crucial question that I’ve been wondering every day. I had discovered the power of Yoga, but my life was still shared in two parts between «before» and «after». I was stuck in the middle of my path.

But the Universe is generous and, one day, it gave me the opportunity to change and discover my Dharma. Thanks to a common friend, I met my Guru and decided to attend a course in Yoga to officially become a yoga teacher and I joined the Teachers Training Course at the SWAN Yoga Retreat in Goa India. Those were unforgettable days. For four weeks I lived in the jungle, experiencing silence and meditation, studying the holy books, purifying soul and body, suffering and crying, all with absolute devotion. On my last day at the ashram, I attended a philosophy lesson.

“What is happiness?”, the teacher asked. “Happiness is a state of mind”, he replied after a few seconds of silence, “but it has some limitations”. To be happy we must be satisfied with ourselves, have a life discipline, live free, we must love, trust and not judge ourselves, do yoga, mantra and meditation, because to be happy is a responsibility. Moreover, we must have good relationships with others and do good deeds in order to have a good Karma.

But, what is our daily Karma (action)? How can we make our contribution to the world? This aim is reachable through the job we do. ”Doing the job you love, you’ll be helpful to others and the universe itself”, the teacher said, closing the lesson.

Listening to these words I had my revelation and I discovered my mission: «I want to teach Yoga and I will do it».

During my training at my Guru’s Ashram in Goa, everything has changed inside of me: my idea, my attitude, my approach to Yoga. Thanks to the mental and physical purifications and practices I went through, I have been able to release all my emotional and physical blockages.

The integration of all yoga styles I have practiced is what I love to call «My Yoga Style» and the knowledge which I acquired during Ayurveda Nutrition course help me to take care of practitioners at all their different levels. Ayurveda and Yoga are «the sister sciences» and together they work to help people staying physically, mentally and emotionally healthy.

My practice today is “Awakening Therapeutic Yoga”, a combination of Hatha yoga with influences of other practices and techniques, flowing between the postures seeking to open the heart and the consciousness, including mantras, to synchronize body, mind and spirit with infinite benefits to the nervous system and strongly focused on the breath.

I am teaching Yoga, Meditation and Yoga Nidra as private teacher for adults and kids in Ibiza.

I organize with my Guru in Ibiza and Mallorca Yoga & Ayurvedic Intensive yoga holiday retreats and vacations under the brand “Shiva”. SHIVA Yoga International is a Yoga school founded by my Guru Sannyasi Gyanmitra Saraswati to disseminate the eternal knowledge of Yoga in the Tradition Of Sri Adi Shankaracharya in the lineage of Swami Shivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh. SHIVA Yoga is committed to bringing forth the authentic and traditional knowledge of Yoga, Tantra and Spirituality.
